Living the life of your dreams doesn’t happen by chance, or by luck…
it happens when you know exactly what you want and then, by taking action.  This 3 step exercise is designed to help you create a clear vision of what your ideal life looks like.  It works best if you are relaxed and in an environment where you won’t be disturbed.  Sit quietly, close your eyes and ask yourself what your ideal life looks like.  What makes you happy?  What does success mean to you? 

Step One:  The VISION

Describe your ideal life in detail.  Be as specific as you can.  Don’t worry how you are going to accomplish your vision…just allow yourself to dream and to think big. 

Finances

What is your ideal annual income?  How much money do you have in savings or investments?  What does your ideal home look like? Describe it in writing.   

Work & Career

What type of work are you doing?  With whom? What is your salary or financial compensation?

Relationships
What is your ideal relationship with your spouse like? Is it loving,      supportive and encouraging? What is your ideal relationship with your
family and extended family like? Who are your friends? What kind of
things do you do together?

Health & Wellness
What is your ideal vision of your health and for your body? How long will you live? Are you pain-free? Are you full of energy & vitality?  Do you exercise and eat good food?

Recreation or Free Time

When you are living your ideal life, how will you spend your free time?  What are you doing?  With whom? What do you do for fun?

Personal Goals

When you are living your ideal life, what are you doing for yourself and your own personal growth?  Do you want to travel, go back to school, learn to meditate?  Do you want to take an art class, learn to play an instrument? What do you need to feel satisfied and energized?

Community/Legacy
When you are living your ideal life, how will you contribute or make a difference in your community or the lives of others around you? What will be your legacy?

 

Step Two:  The ACTION 

Name 3 actions you can take over the next 3 months in each of the seven categories that will get you closer to living the life of your dreams.

As great as your ideal life looks like on paper…there are bound to be obstacles that get in your way.  Looking at everything you’ve written down for living your ideal life and the actions you will take over the next 3 months…in the left column…list all of the obstacles you can think of that you may face.  What will stand in your way of accomplishing your goals?  And in the right column…list what you can do to overcome these obstacles.
