John-Etienne Myburgh
M.Ed., Registered Psychologist
Hi! My name is John-Etienne, but most people call me John.
I have spent the majority of my life living on and working in the Prairie provinces. Originally from South Africa,
it brings me joy to travel and discover new places (fun fact: I have visited 14 different countries and a long wishlist of many more!).
I believe life is an adventure, and we all have seasons where things get messy; in those times, we need people to help us identify and address the challenges that get in the way of enjoying everyday life.
When I’m not working, I love exploring this beautiful province and spending time with my family. I’m an avid reader, currently working through a “top 100 best books of all time” list, and enjoy swimming.
I completed my undergraduate (Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology) and graduate (Master of Education in Educational Psychology & Special Education) studies at University of Saskatchewan, and continue to seek out educational opportunities to better serve my clients, in particular in the areas of anxiety, depression, and OCD.
I have had an extremely varied work history, but have worked for the past 18 years in human services with Children, Youth, and Adults.
In my work, I utilize a number of different approaches, including cognitive-behavioural therapy, behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, existential therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused brief therapy;
however, at the end of the day, the approach I use is the one that works best for your presenting concerns and preferences.
My goal is to listen deeply to your story, and to work with you to find a helpful solution.
I want to be one of your people, and help you live your life with purpose, meaning, and joy.
I look forward to meeting you, either virtually or in-person!
My areas of work include:

-

-
