Sign #13: You’ve noticed that your goals & aspirations have changed, shifted, or evolved over time – what you used to want is different now.
Yes, this is a definite sign that you’re ready for change…
and it’s also a good sign! It signals personal growth!
and it’s also a good sign! It signals personal growth!
As we gain life experience, enjoy good times and face challenges and struggles, we learn and we grow and we change as a result
So it only makes sense that our perspectives, values and priorities naturally evolve along with us. What once motivated and excited us may no longer be relevant in our current situations and with the things that are important to us now. For example, what was important and a ‘must-have’ in your 20’s is likely very different in your 40’s, 50’s and beyond.
My experience with my clients is that many people may have a general sense of what they want…but they haven’t dug any deeper into the specifics. And if you don’t know the specifics…it’s hard to put ‘next steps’ into place in order to make those dreams a reality.
I’d suggest you take a look at the goals and dreams (met and/or unmet) that you had in the past and compare them to what’s important to you currently.
Notice any changes in your interests, passions, or long-term vision. Consider the reasons behind these changes. What experiences, insights, or personal growth have influenced these shifts?
What is important to you now? And what will be important for you going forward?
What do you want more of? Less of? What’s your personal definition of happiness, being fulfilled, of contentment and success? How will you know when you’ve arrived? See this as a great opportunity to reassess and realign your hopes, dreams, priorities and ‘must-haves’ to better reflect the person you are today and the person you want to be come. Dream and imagine a future that excites and inspires you.
Write it all down. Get as specific as you can
And of course…you know me by now 😀…I’m going to advise you to move forward towards what’s important to you. Make a change. Take a risk. Take a chance. Take a small step. Do something rather than nothing.
By staying true to yourself and pursuing goals that resonate with who you are and what’s important, you’ll be on your way in no time to creating a fulfilling and meaningful life in your next chapter.
Cheers,
Penney
