Get out of your head and into the present moment. When anxiety takes over, grounding techniques can help bring you back to the here and now. Try this:

  • Look around and identify 5 things you can see.
  • Identify 4 things you can touch.
  • Notice 3 things you can hear.
  • Acknowledge 2 things you can smell.
  • Focus on 1 thing you can taste.

Grounding helps you reconnect with the present and takes your focus off anxious thoughts. It’s a quick, effective way to regain control and calm your mind.
