Managing Psychological Overwhelm – The Self-Compassion Break

Are your thoughts self-critical or harsh? Take a self-compassion break. Overwhelm often leads to negative self-talk. The Self-Compassion Break helps you shift into a kinder mindset:

  1. Acknowledge your feelings: Say to yourself, “I’m feeling really overwhelmed right now, and that’s okay.”
  2. Recognize it’s part of being human: Remind yourself that everyone experiences stress and overwhelm from time to time.
  3. Offer yourself kindness: Put your hand on your heart or another comforting gesture and say, “May I give myself the compassion I need right now.”

This technique helps calm psychological overwhelm by replacing negative self-judgment with compassion.
